Community Garden

When i went to the community garden, I was able to interview someone who works at the farmers market.

What's your name?
Fransisco.

How long have you worked here?
6 years.
What is different about the food here rather than food from the store?
Its fresh and strait out of the source, we never pick when the food is not ripe, we let it ripen the pick. There is nothing that we used to speed up the ripening process, it is all ripened by the sun.

Do you encourage people to start there own garden?
If they can go ahead and try, it is always good to start something new and when they do, they know more about what they eat.

What is different from working here, rather than working at a regular store?
There is a different feeling and there is nothing better than being right here where it all happens.

After I interviewed him, I thought about these questions.

1. What struck you about the location you visited? Was it what you expected, or very different?
It was nothing like i expected, I thought there wouldn't be a lot of people there buying things but i was wrong. It was cool being able to see and taste the difference from food here and food at a regular store.

2. Which items were cheaper than you expected? Which were more expensive?
There wasn't one specific item that was cheaper or more expensive, over all it was more expensive.

3. Do you think you will start going to a farmers market more often? Or using a community garden? Or supporting a CSA?
If it was my choice to go to one of these places of a store, i would rather go to a farmers market or community garden because the food there is so fresh and good tasting.

4. How do these locations fit into our essential questions of “Why Don’t People Live More Sustainably?” and “How Can I Convince them to do So?”
The reason it is hard to live more sustainable is because it is much more expensive and they aren't like other regular store, open all day everyday. The way we can get people to try and live more sustainable is by trying to encourage them to change there ways of eating and make a new diet plan.

  1. I like the way you gave a lot of information in your interview. Also the way that Francisco said that he rather pick food from the farmers market then from the store because It's fresh and strait out of the source. I think if they sell good food then all the people would like to taste the fresh food they have and they would sell more then what they used to. I like the way you put your effort in you interview good job.:)

  3. I liked how you said if it was your choice you would shop at a farmers market because its true. Our parents are the ones that buy the food that we eat so its up to them unless we convince or they like the idea of shopping at a farmers market then we can. But, many parents don't because of many reasons. One of them is because its more expensive like you said and many people rather save money or just don't have enough money to buy better food.

  5. I agree with what you said about some items being more expensive than buying at a grocery store and some being cheaper that they would be in a grocery store. It made me think, it shouldnt matter if it cost a couple of cents or dollars more, if it taste better and is better for you it shouldnt matter.

  6. i agree with you about people making their own garden because its true, people do learn more about what they eat and they also get to save money on expenses at the grocery store.
